The Langtang region was one of the areas that were severely affected by the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Many villages and trekking trails in the region were destroyed, and a massive landslide triggered by the earthquake blocked the Langtang River, creating a lake that flooded the lower parts of the valley. The Langtang village, which was the starting point for the Langtang trek, was completely wiped out and many trekkers and residents lost their lives. The region has since been rebuilt with the help of government and non-government organizations and is now open for trekking again. However, some areas and trails may still be affected by the disaster.
