Shivapuri Peak is a popular hiking destination in Nepal, located about 10 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu. The peak stands at an elevation of 2,732 meters (8,958 feet) and offers beautiful views of the surrounding Himalayan mountain range.
To reach the peak, you can take a bus or taxi from Kathmandu to the Shivapuri National Park gate, which is the starting point of the hike. The hike itself takes about 4-5 hours to complete, depending on your pace. The trail is well-marked and not too difficult, but it can be steep in places.
Along the way, you'll pass through lush forests and terraced fields, and you may spot some local wildlife such as monkeys and birds. The trail also passes through a few small villages, where you can take a break and rest or grab a snack.
At the top of the peak, you'll find a small stupa and a prayer wheel, as well as breathtaking views of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu Valley. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery before heading back down.
Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection, as well as good hiking shoes and comfortable clothing. It's also a good idea to let someone know your plans and carry a map of the area. Enjoy your hike!
